Limey (8 out of 10 ) There's such an emotional and ambient beauty to this film that has seemingly been lost on the majority of critics and viewers. I loved so much about this movie- the score, the wardrobe, the synthetic yet warm, almost autumnal, look of the film. Beautiful! I loved how the weird bearded character was revealed as a replica, explaining why he was so vague throughout. And Natasha McElhone was simply gorgeous.
PHiRE (8 out of 10 ) Caught this on tv the other night. Didn't quite grasp the ending, he seemed to go back to earth alive, but was also in a 'dead' state. What was going on?
Limey (8 out of 10 ) I think there was a shot at the end showing that Solaris had enveloped the earth. It seems to me that they took it back with them, as was their concern while still on board the ship. It was a little unclear but that's my guess.

arfmooo (10 out of 10 ) Remember near the end when Snaut was talking about something incomprehensible happening, that islands had begun to form on the ocean of Solaris? I assumed the last shot at the end, of Kris back "home" was actually a shot of him on Solaris, on one of the islands, that the ocean had formed an island out of Kris's subconscience. Notice how it appeared to be raining inside the house? Also, notice how the fire where Kris had burned his old papers before he left earth was still smoldering? Those components don't add up, except to say that they weren't on earth, weren't part of reality.
david (10 out of 10 ) Solaris is one of a kind. A completely unique story with subtle and seamless cinematography. This is what is possible when the Director and Writer are one and the same. The vision is conceived and executed without morons getting in the "tween". This also occurs with James Cameron. Most of the big guns write and direct their own stuff. I guess the ending is neither on Earth or Solaris. What is the power of Solaris? The power to see into the mind. To replicate a living being purely from memory/thought. When the mind leaves the body, our entire existance at that point must reside as pure thought. Of course, everything is pure energy when you look closely. If Solaris had the power to see into ones mind to recreate a long lost being, then the ending projects that it can recreate Kris entire world outside of space-time as we know it. I believe the author was touching on the afterlife and left it for our minds to tease with the possibility.
deVandemar (3 out of 10 ) Truly nice atmosphere, I was really glad and satisfied when watching the first part of the movie (the "earth part"), but then. Whatta pitty, the Tarkovsky' s original is ultimate and stubborn.
This remake has lost something.

Gordon (9 out of 10 ) Does anyone know what version this is? Because it doesn't seem to be the 1970's movie (which had a largely different plot + different names), and it doesn't seem to be the 2000's Clooney version (Its closer, but most of dialogue and some of the events are different) Is this like a draft of that version?
